What’s the detail defination of a block shot in basketball?
June 3rd, 2010 | by admin |Had an arguement with a friend about the defination of block shot. If a person did a ball fake under basket, then the ball was strip/block away from him before the ball leave his hand although he was on his way up. If the ball never raise higher than the head level, does it count as a block? What would be the official defination of a true block shot(not a steal).
let me make this short for you:
A block shot is when the opposing player is in shooting position with arms bent, and right when it barely releases its hands, it is a blocked shot.(when a player raises its hand and swats the ball away from an opponent, not necessarily swated)

A blocked shot is what Dwight Howard does in every game. A blocked shot is when the defender deflects the ball after it leaves the shooter’s hand and causes the ball to go in a different direction other than going towards the goal. Once again, see Dwight Howard for a clear example.
